What is youDESIGN?
The Museum of Modern Art youDESIGN contest
encourages creativity and problem solving
while drawing inspiration from the work
of the artist Vito Acconci, who is interviewed
by a group of teens in the feature Good
Guys Wear Black.
This is your chance to change a school!
A high school lobby needs to be redesigned.
While the lobby is one of the busiest
places in the school, it is currently
dull and unwelcoming. Your challenge
is to redesign the lobby so that it will
serve practical functions, create an
exciting first impression for visitors,
and become an area where students like
to hang out. You can even choose the
environment where the school is located.
Experiment and be creative!
Your lobby design must include the following
three features:
- A check-in area for visitors
- A place for students to relax, study,
or socialize between classes
- A way to display the school's daily
announcements
Written Descriptions
The
final step of the competition is to describe
your lobby design. All text must be in
English with a minimum of 250 words, but
not more than 500.
You will need to explain how you handled
the required features (the check-in area,
student seating, and announcement display),
and also describe the other design elements
of your lobby and why you made the choices
that you did. When writing your description
you should think about how you envision
people using the space and what you hope
people will experience when in your lobby.
