WHO CAN ENTER: NO PURCHASE
NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. You are eligible
to enter if, throughout the Contest Period, you
are between the ages of 13 and 19, are not, and
have never been, enrolled in college or a college
program and are a legal resident of the United
States.
HOW TO ENTER: Contest commences
at 5:00pm EST on April 3, and ends at 5:00pm
EST on June 30 (the “Contest
Period”).
Enter by completing the submission form and
following the “Submit to Contest.”
You will be prompted to include descriptive
text about your submission, minimum 250 words,
not to exceed 500 words. Descriptive text must
be written in English. Submit to Contest procedures
must be completed before the end of the Contest
Period. Entrants must fill out all required
fields. You may not submit more
than one entry.
GUIDELINES
Be creative! Experiment! Use different
materials and techniques!
Use a mouse, a pencil, a paintbrush—whatever
it takes to create and develop a character of
your own invention! Then create views of your
character from the front and side. Don’t
forget to give it a name! Next imagine the world
in which your character lives. You will need
to include an image of your character in this
environment. The environment can be an inside,
outside, or imagined place.
Bring your character to life! Write a descriptive
essay or story about your character. Include
information about the: who, what, where, why, and how of
your character. All text must be in English with
a minimum of 250 words but not more than 500.
What you need to submit:
- An image of your character seen from
the front
- An image of your character seen from
the side.
- An image of your character in its environment
- Descriptive essay or story about your
character
Image requirements:
All images must be in JPEG format.
Minimum size: 400 pixels width by 400 pixels height
The deadline for submissions is
June 30, 2006. Winners will be notified
in October and their names will be posted
on the site.
Terms of Agreement
By entering, you authorize The Museum
of Modern Art and its subsidiaries and
affiliated organizations (collectively "Sponsor"),
in its sole discretion, to post your entry
on the Red Studio site, either with or
without your first name, age, and state.
Judging Criteria: A qualified
panel of judges will determine the winners
of the Contest. The prize-winning
entry will be selected based on creativity(33%);
overall concept (33%), fulfilling the criteria
required in the guidelines, and clarity
of written explanations (33%). In the event
of a tie, tied entries will be re-judged
in accordance with criteria listed above
to determine the final winners.
Prizes: Three potential
winners (each a “Potential Winner”)
will be selected.All entrants
and selected winners must comply with all
terms and conditions set forth in these
Official Rules, and winning is contingent
on fulfilling all such requirements.
Each qualified winner will receive their
choice of either a digital video camera
(valued up to $500,make and model number
to be determined by Sponsor) or a gift
certificate to an art supply store in an
amount of equal value to the camera. All
prizing is non-transferable and has no
cash equivalent. Prizes cannot be returned
for cash. Substitution of prize by winner
is prohibited. Sponsor reserves the
right in its sole discretion to substitute
any prize with a prize of comparable value.
In the event that a Potential Winner chooses
not to accept his/her prize, or Sponsor
is unable to notify him/her via the email
address provided, an alternate winner will
be selected from the remaining entries,
in accordance with the Judging Criteria
set forth above. Prizewinners are
solely responsible for all applicable
federal, state, and local taxes. Total
estimated value of all prizes is up to
$1,500.
Additional Requirements: The Potential
Winners will be notified by email as indicated
above. Each Potential Winner will
be sent an affidavit form by email. The
affidavit form must be completed by Potential
Winner, and, if Potential Winner is under
the age of majority in his/her state of
residence, by Potential Winner’s
parent and/or legal guardian. The
affidavit will serve to: (i) establish
eligibility under the Contest Rules; (ii)
release Sponsor from any liability, claims,
demands, and causes of action from personal
injury and/or damage, theft, or loss suffered
in connection with this Contest or the
use or acceptance of the prizes or any
portion thereof; and (iii) where permitted
by law, grant Sponsor the right to use
Potential Winner’s Design, name,
voice, and likeness for advertising and
publicity purposes without additional compensation.
Entry into Contest constitutes Potential
Winner’s and, where appropriate,
Potential Winner’s parent and/or
legal guardian’s agreement to sign
such affidavit and releases and any other
legal documents that Sponsor may require
(including W-9). If Potential Winner fails
to return the completed affidavit form
within 5 business days of being notified,
he/she will be disqualified and an alternate
winner will be chosen from the remaining
eligible entries, in accordance with the
Judging Criteria set forth above. The affidavit
must be signed before a notary and sent
to the address indicated on the form with
original signature(s). Sponsor
reserves the right to notify potential
winners by mail. Winners will be notified
on or about September 2006.
The Contest is not open to Sponsor’s
employees and their immediate families,
or the employees and families of Judges. Void
where prohibited or restricted by law.
All entries become the property of Sponsor
and will not be acknowledged or returned
except as herein indicated.
Entrants must have on-line service prior
to the beginning of the Contest. Entries
that have been tampered with, altered,
or which are incomplete or inaccurate shall
be considered void. By submitting
an entry form, entrant is agreeing to be
notified by email if he/she is chosen as
a potential winner of the Contest. By
entering, entrant acknowledges compliance
with these official rules, including all
eligibility requirements. Sponsor is not
responsible for any problems or technical
malfunctions, human error, lost/delayed
data transmission, omission, interruption,
tampering, deletion, defect, line failures
of any telephone network, computer on-line
systems, servers or providers, computer
equipment, software, failure of email or
design on account of technical problems
or traffic congestion on the Internet or
at any Web site or any combination thereof,
including injury or damage to participants
or to any other person’s computer
related to or resulting from participating
or downloading materials in this Contest.
If, for any reason, the Contest is not
capable of running as planned, including
infection by computer virus, bugs, tampering,
unauthorized intervention, fraud, technical
failures, or any other cause beyond the
control of the Sponsor which corrupt or
affect the administration, security, fairness,
integrity or proper conduct of this Contest,
Sponsor reserves the right at its sole
discretion to cancel, terminate, modify
or suspend this Contest. Should
the Contest be terminated or cancelled
prior to the stated expiration date, notice
will be posted on the website, and any
entries received prior to the termination
or cancellation will be included in the
judging. The use of any automated system
or agent to submit entries in connection
with the Contest is prohibited and will
result in disqualification. In the event
of a dispute over who submitted an entry,
the holder of the winning email address
will be declared the Potential Winner. Collection
of personally identifiable information
will be in accordance with the MoMA Privacy
and Security Policy as posted on MoMA.org.
By participating in this Contest, entrants
agree to be bound by these rules. All interpretations
of the rules and decisions by Sponsor relating
to the rules and the Contest are final.
Sponsor reserves the right at its sole
discretion to disqualify any individual
it finds to be tampering with the entry
process or the operation of the Contest
or website; to be acting in violation of
the Official Rules; or to be acting in
a disruptive manner, or with intent to
annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other
person. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY AN ENTRANT
OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY
DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE
OPERATION OF THE CONTEST IS A VIOLATION
OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH
AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, MoMA RESERVES THE RIGHT
TO SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH CONTESTANT
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
