Architecture is a part of our everyday life, from the smallest thing such as a toy house to the largest buildings such as skyscrapers. To me, architecture is very unique, one reason being that architecture in ways is a type of art. But it also allows the architects to take one step forward with their imaginations. Growing up in a city really inspires me to explore the field of architecture. Just viewing the skyscrapers in Manhattan from the skyline shows the different design that each building consists of. Even within the neighborhood, the structures and designs of the houses vary. To me, architecture is like a concept, interpreted in many ways.

For one project, the assignment was to redesign Paley Park as a youth center, without disturbing the trees or the waterfall. This was difficult since I could not remove the trees. So I decided to build around the trees in the center. Sometimes the best idea is the simplest idea. Instead of building something exotic, I decided instead to create a little café located in the center of the park. The seating would surround the café. The shape of the tables and chairs is unique, forming the shape of an eye.

I decided to create a café because everyone loves coffee. To teens, this would be very enjoyable. They could sit down, read a book and have a cup of coffee while still being able to listen to the sounds of the waterfall. This is not someone's everyday café. Thanks to architecture, maybe one day my design will come to life. But until then, I will just make improvements to my design because architecture is about having one idea, then expanding it and improving upon it to create a better structure.
