I was born in New Jersey. When I was 4, I moved back
to my home country, Malaysia, with my family. I stayed
there for 9 years, and then I came back to the U.S.
During those 9 years in Malaysia, I had been in art
classes where I learned how to draw, color and paint.
Not only have I learned art from art classes, I have
also learned art from my brother because he has an amazing
talent in art. I mostly sketch people in my sketchbooks
or loose leaves. I like to listen to music while doing
art because that is what inspires me.
The theme for my collage is difference and dualities.
In my collage, I painted the background black and white,
which represents Yin and Yang. And then, I used pictures
to transfer them to Bristol board, and put them together
to show the difference of the original picture and the
transfer. I chose “Difference and dualities” as my theme
because I feel that there is a lot of difference in
this world. Empty streets vs. crowded streets, rich
and poor, happy vs. sad etc. By putting differences
together and comparing them, we can see and learn things
from them. I think that this topic should be brought
up more. |
