To me, architecture is like a part of my everyday life. I see it where ever I go. Architecture to me is very important. I guess it had all started with my mother. At least once a week, she would complain out loud that our house is very messy. And most importantly, how the house was too small and that there was never enough room. Hearing her complain, I wish that we lived in a bigger house. But then, I would also imagine how the house we currently live in would be like if it was bigger. Would my room be bigger? Would there be an extra room? If so, what would it be used for? From then on, I would start sketching out floor plans. I tried to design a floor plan that would make my mom happy. Most of my floor plans are made up of straight lines. The reason is because to me, it makes the room look more spacious. I want the person going into the space I created to feel spacious. I want to make the person to feel peaceful and comfortable. Also, I like to design houses with big windows. I think the big windows make the room look bigger. Also, by having the big windows, more light can travel into the room.
I think the most difficult part when drawing the floor plan is deciding which room goes where. It took a lot of brain storming to see where I should place the rooms. Also, when drawing the rooms, the measurement
of each room has to be perfect. That is because if one of the room's measurements is off by even one centimeter, the rest of the rooms might have to change also. This causes the entire house to change. So without the ruler, I would be lost. So another difficulty is to make sure that each room has the right measurements. |
