What defines you? I think what best defines a person is their personality. Everyone looks different, speaks differently and acts differently. People also have different tastes. One may like something while another person may despise it. Usually if you take a liking to something you will keep on doing it and eventually get better at it. No two people are alike and so your thoughts will not be alike. Your artwork is a way to express your thoughts and feelings and no one can say it’s wrong because it’s your art and your opinion.
I think that the idea of originality and creativity is essential to the success
of an artist. There is a constant pressure on artists to get innovative ideas. Some new ideas may not be realistic but can inspire other ideas.
I think that in architecture, you can really make your personality come alive. There are so many ways to express yourself with a building, such as the shape of the building, the material used for the interior and the exterior, the environment that the building is set in, and also what the original intent of the building is for.
Every week during class, we were told to write down what we thought was the definition of architecture. For me, each week was a new definition.
The definition always incorporated a little of what we learned in the week before, therefore it always changed. This led me to believe that architecture does not have an exact definition.
During this program at MoMA, I learned what it took to become an architect.
I saw all the hard work that went into projects and model making and I saw how hard it was to finally get a license and actually get a job as an architect; all the bachelors’ degrees and the multiple tests that have to be taken to become an architect. This has pushed to try harder and to be patient because nothing comes easy. |
