I feel so often society is caught up in the whirl of trying to advance itself and obsessed with its continuing evolution. Often, people are so enthralled with things that are new and exciting, that they gloss over the fundamental issues of life and become oblivious to their very existence. People are so eager to shed the past and move into the future that they don’t truly consider the value of what they are casually throwing away. My goal is not necessarily to make people value every aspect of the past, but to make people stop and think about their decisions, rather than following the "revolutionary"
trend and blindly charging forward. It is easy to be revolutionary
when one is simply advocating up-and-coming ideas, never before presented, that are fast becoming popular. However, I want to inspire people to open their eyes and look in both directions, not just ahead. I want my work to encourage people to abandon the traditional passivity and actively think about the society they shape. I suppose this could be described as a counterrevolution, but that doesn't always have to be a bad thing. In my opinion, you can totally move forwards while looking backwards. If you don’t, you won’t be able to see what you have created.
