Why does art annoy me? For the simple reason that it is so vague and can constitute almost anything from a shovel to a spectacular painting. Not only does art itself annoy be but the artist, too. Why thinking of artists I get a stereotypical image in my brain of an arrogant man dotting a blank canvas and declaring it to be worth millions. Although art annoys me a lot, I can't help but appreciate it as well. Most works of art I'll pass by without giving it a second thought while I hear others picking at it to find a meaning. When I come across a piece of art that I truly enjoy, I won’t pick at it to find the artist’s meaning or purpose; I will give it a story. Because I am so interested in stories I find film the most interesting form of art. It doesn’t keep you guessing and pulling your hair out to find a clear-cut meaning but a story (however vague the story might be). However, as annoying as art might be, I can't imagine a world without it.
Students reflect on what they’ve learned, review films, critique
architecture, and interview artists.
